Language Arts (Tiffanie L. Zimmer, [email protected] )
*This week is the second check for reading requirements. The day has been moved up to Thursday instead of Friday, due to my being out of class for a special fieldtrip on Friday morning. These grades will appear in Powerschool as 50 points – students should be ½ way through with all of their reading requirements. Just a reminder that students can test on their biography books or if there is no test they can fill out a book summary. Tests and book summary need to be completed before Thursday.
*This week we are starting to write the biography essay. Students have been given 12 days to collect a book and two articles; read all of their information; and take notes on everything. An outline has been provided with key questions to answer about the individual that they have chosen – from there, students need to choose the additional pieces of information that they want to include. Writing will take place in and out of class. Please follow up with your student to check their progress.
*Just a reminder that Language Arts tutoring is every Monday. Students are welcome to come to my room any day after school to catch up or work on any assignments.
*25 students have taken advantage of reading a book written by Ally Condie, in turn these students have the opportunity to attend the author’s speaking engagement at Library 21C on Friday. Students have been provided with a permission slip to be returned with $2.00 by Thursday.
*Enrichment students are reading Romeo and Juliet – each evening they will need to read a certain selection of chapters. In order to do this, they need to access my webpage on schoolrack, click on files, and then choose the novella.
